We started our count down to surgery speakimg in terms of "some day". It became years... then back in May speaking in terms of months. Then it moved to weeks. Then on to days. Now it's hours and soon it will be minutes. Through it all one thing has not changed... our God. We have changed. We have gotten more anxious. Yes, we know that isn't from God and that He is in control but our flesh at times gets the better of us and we feel the anxiety of what is unknown. We have changed in our thoughts as well. We think about little else than each other. We have changed in our reliance on God as the only relief from the heavy yoke of carrying all your own struggles. Yes, these are heavy days. We feel their weight... and be honest with yourself, you would feel it too. BUT, God has remained the same. He has not be shaken, He has not been moved, He has not grown weary, He has not lost sight, He has not failed. God has not ceased in His love, His comfort, His peace, His security, His help or His rest. We were again reminded of that today in Psalm 100, on our way to more appointments.
It reads: "Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name! the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His faithfulness to all generations."
He is our God. He has made us. We are His. We are His people and He is our shepherd. Though we struggle and battle the temptations of worry and anxiety, we KNOW He is loving and He is faithful to all generations. If we did not believe that, I don't even want to know the heaviness. I know those who would try it on their own. Those who would say "man up". But why? Is it more manly to carry all the burden? Is it more manly to be completely self reliant? It is certainly more foolish. We will continue to rely on Him. Friends if you do not know this faithful God personally as your savior, you need to.... For now and for eternity because no matter how tough a person may be, they cannot carry the weight of their own salvation.
We have all clearances from the tests and we are a go for tomorrow. The time will be relayed later and we may post a quick update with just the time. We met with the surgeon this morning and he is confident, competent and calm. We are thankful for all those things. This surgery does not worry him. It has not worried God. The surgeon is Dr. Eric Roselli. Pray for him by name and for his team.
Ana will update you tomorrow and Friday. Lord willing I'll do so on Saturday. Thank you to all of you who are praying and helping us. We are almost there.
The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. ~Deuteronomy 6:5-9
